Reporting to the Controller/Director Finance, the Payroll, AP/AR Specialist will work as part of the Finance team to meet department goals and focus on the accurate data entry and reconciliation. In addition, the Specialist will provide administrative support to the department.
Payroll: Accurately prepares and enters payroll data for submission to payroll processor, maintains confidential employee files; complies with state and federal form requirements, works directly with HR on inputs to payroll software.
Accounts Receivable: Process account receivable and revenue accounting records, record to Financial Edge. Process miscellaneous invoices, eg. workshop/workgroup, send on to Controller/CFO, as needed.
- Advancement income recording and reconciliation: Review and record advancement revenues in Financial Edge.
- Assists with the preparation of reports for those responsible for the management of cost centers and grants/programs. providing interpretation of financial results as needed.
- May assist in the annual financial statement audit, preparation of the Form 990, annual ERISA and retirement plan audits, and the indirect cost rate proposal.
Accounts Payable: Provides data entry, validation, and processing of all invoices. To include entry of VISA CC, vendor invoices, employee reimbursements and travel reimbursements. Ensures that the accounts payable and SFI’s financial obligations are met in a timely manner. Safeguards that the accounts payable are recorded with a full general ledger string of accounts and that events are properly assigned to cost center and/or grant funding.
- Minimum an Associates degree in accounting or finance with 3 years of relevant experience necessary.
- Knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and applications, experience in non-profit accounting including monthly and annual audit cycles
- Experience working with finance and accounting packages. Experience with Blackbaud’s Financial Edge and Salesforce helpful but not required. Advanced knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to think critically and solve problems as well as having excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and exercise judgment in setting priorities are necessary.
- Adaptable and able to work and participate as a team member.
